Combat Proven The Stinger Weapon System has been proven to provide superior air defense for today's highly mobile forces. Its unique fire-and-forget technology ensures high survivability and maximum lethality, even in a heavy countermeasure environment. Stinger protects the total force while providing ground forces freedom to maneuver. During Desert Shield/Desert Storm, Stinger was deployed with every combat force in all four services to defend maneuver forces, provide high-value site defense and protect key political and industrial facilities. Stinger was also used to provide helicopter self defense, protect naval vessels and provide close-in air defense of Patriot units and critical military assets.

Stinger is ready to meet these challenges. Stinger-RMP (Reprogrammable Microprocessor) is the current production version of Stinger, incorporating unique technology to counter advanced threats. The Stinger-RMP is a lightweight, self-contained air defense system that can be rapidly deployed on the Avenger, Linebacker and other military platforms in any combat situation. It has maintained a greater than 90% success rate in reliability and training tests against advanced threat targets. Stinger-RMP's combination of supersonic speed, agility, highly accurate guidance and control system and lethal warhead gives Stinger the operational edge against all classes of helicopters, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), cruise missiles and fixed wing aircraft.
